Continuous Improvement doesn’t have to be difficult (4)

By Ian Crocombe

So far, we’ve covered three things you can easily do to get your improvement journey started:

  • Make notes in real time about what goes wrong or can be improved
  • Chat about how well (or otherwise) things are going and what needs to change
  • Draw pictures of how you do what you do

As promised, here’s another simple thing you can do to get your improvement moving. As always, it’s practical, low cost and yet will still get people involved in the things that’ll make their workplace a better place to be.

Hint #4: Take time to see.

Everyone is always busy, busy busy … but.

Just take a little time to watch what goes on. The interactions, the emotions, the movement of people, information and things.

As you observe, jot down unedited what you see, and the questions you have and then, when you have a few minutes, reflect and try to understand why things are the way they are and start to think about how you can improve.

Easy and practical and there are loads more tips to come!

Remember, UK Business Advisors are here to help get your improvement activities started and more importantly to begin capturing the efficiency, experience and engagement benefits that go with it.

Coaching, teaching and demonstrating – yep, we do all that.
